David Beckham’s Humble Beginnings
Like many professional athletes, David Beckham came from humble beginnings. It was his drive and his love for the game of soccer that got him to where he is today. But, how did one of the world’s most famous soccer players get his start?
David was born on May 2nd, 1972 in London England to a hairdresser and a kitchen fitter. He started playing soccer at a young age, and quickly developed a high level of the skill at the game. As far back as he can remember, he always wanted to be a professional soccer player. Since his parents were huge Manchester United fans, he had the opportunity to tag along to games and experience the excitement of professional soccer. He played for a soccer team coached by his father, the Ridgeway Rovers, and continues to progress and show a natural ability for the game. Eventually, he had the chance to try out Leyton Orient, and eventually made his way onto the Brimsdown Rovers soccer team. This all happened before his 14th birthday. When he turned 14, he signed papers with Manchester United, and the rest is history!
Everyone knows what happened after David started playing with Manchester United. The love of the game is what propelled him to the position he is in today, and he can thank his parents love of the game for that as well. It just goes to show that with a little hard work and dedication, anything is possible!
