Where to bet on football online

Football: When it comes to the beautiful game everyone is an expert, perhaps that is why placing bets is so popular. Friendly betting with your mates though just doesn’t offer quite the same satisfaction as a big win from the bookies, and if a trip to the local one is out of the question then there are more than enough sites you can wager your money with.

Whichever site you choose is ultimately down to personal preference, with each one offering their own incentives for signing up and placing a bet, whether it be a free £25 or £50 bet.

A big betting site right now is www.bet365.com. The commercial time it received during the breaks and finish of the Champion’s League probably helped boost that significantly. If bet365 doesn’t take your fancy then try visiting any of the big name bookies you would expect to find in your town, online, whether it be Ladbrokes or William hill. Each site offers slightly different odds as well, so it does perhaps pay to browse before betting.

William Hill, Victor Chandler, Ladbrokes, Bwin, Betfair and Bet365 are probably the biggest and most popular betting sites online at the moment. So have a look around each of them, see what odds are going and then make a decision which one you want to place a bet with. You don’t just have to bet on premier league matches though, pretty much every single game of football that is going to be played can be wagered on, so if you’re feeling a little lucky then have a go at predicting the outcome of the most obscure match going.

David Beckham and his Manchester United Years

David Beckham and his Manchester United Years

Most professional athletes have one team they play with that defines their career. Michael Jordan with the Chicago Bulls and Michael Schumacher with Ferrari are great examples of this. David Beckham is no different, and the team that defined his early career was Manchester United!

It was on December 7th 1994 that David Beckham finally realized his dream and saw action in a Manchester United game. All his years of hard work and dedication paid off! But, as with many young soccer players, it was short lived. He bounced around various clubs and tried his best to break into the lineup of Manchester United without any success.

It wasn’t until 1996 that David actually became a full member of the squad and started playing in almost all their games. He achieved immediate success, and while not all the fans and the media liked him, they had to appreciate the skill, football strategy and the dedication to the game he brought. He was a consistent performer for the team until 2003, when an injury kept him out of the lineup, and he was unable to retake his old position. As time when on, the relationship he had with the management went stale, and before long, he was playing for Real Madrid.

Manchester United is where David got his start as a professional soccer player. It was the setting for the beginning of this world class soccer players illustrious career, and nobody will forget the golden years he spent there.

David Beckham and his LA Galaxy Years

It was a huge shock to all when David Beckham announced he was going to the United States to play for the LA Galaxy. Many people questioned his decision, and not many people thought that the MLS would be the best place for a player of his caliber. But, in early 2007, he made his way stateside and joined the team.

It wasn’t until July of that year that he actually saw his first on field action with the Galaxy. The results he achieved were less than stellar. Regardless, he was awarded the captaincy of the team, and he tried his best to lead them towards the playoffs.

In August of 2007, he injured his knee and was unable to play. Because they lost their star player, the Galaxy narrowly missed a playoff spot for that year, and was eliminated for the 2007 season.

He once again played for the Galaxy for the 2008 season, but once again they missed the playoffs. After the season was over, he returned to play with Milan on a temporary basis.

But, after returning from Milan, many fans had changed their opinion of him. They no longer greeted him with cheers and excitement – they taunted him and called him a fraud. They didn’t think he was dedicating as much time and effort to the Galaxy as they thought, and they let him know about it.

David continues to split time between Milan and the LA Galaxy. It will be interesting to see what happens after his contract is up, as his family has set down roots here and probably wouldn’t seem thrilled about moving across the world again!

Controversy Surrounding David Beckham

Famous people attract controversy like honey attracts bees. But, its how they handle it that really makes the difference. David Beckham has been the target of quite a few overzealous journalists and people trying to ruin his reputation, but none of them have been able to tarnish his image.

During 2004, there were two women who said they had engaged in extramarital affairs with David Beckham. Like most stories of this nature, there was no real proof, and the objective was to cause controversy to sell newspapers. David’s wife, Victoria, stood behind him, and nothing really cam of this.

But soccer stars aren’t only targets for jealous female companions – the paparazzi like to target them as well. In late 2008, a paparazzi accused David of assaulting him while he was trying to take a picture. This matter is still before the courts, but it is safe to assume that as with almost all cases like this, nothing will come of it.

For being such a huge soccer star, David Beckham has not attracted as much negative attention as one might suspect.

It doesn’t matter how good of a role model you are – there will always be people making false accusations against you trying to ruin your reputation. David Beckham has taken all the criticism surrounding him and handled it like a real champion. If people think they can get this world class soccer player down, they obviously have no idea how strong willed David really is!
